As a club, we have been encouraging our players to spend more time with the ball at home.
Our registration site, playmetrics, has a club resources section where we have uploaded videos that we believe are useful for our players to watch and imitate.
These videos should serve as a guide/challenge for the players to improve their individual skills as well as game understanding.
We appreciate those players that have taken advantage of this tool and are reporting back with videos of themselves performing ball mastery and skills.
After reviewing the videos that have been submitted, there are many observations made by our coaching staff in regards to the quality, intensity, and the speed and if it is done correctly.
The effort and commitment demonstrated by these players who are doing the extra outside of club practices is recognized, however the way the extra work is done is more important than the completion.
I wrote previous blogs about falling in love with the ball and provided a 10-step guide to becoming a better soccer player. These messages are reminders that this work is for the player who wants to become better and has developed a strong relationship with the ball. The closer our relationship with someone or something the more time we prefer to dedicate towards that person or thing.
So to the players of the club, when you do the next video or go for your next juggling record, please understand that you are doing all of this work for your own personal development!
The things we love to do are going to challenge us, so we must accept the challenge and always give our best!
Our club is here to teach and provide life lessons through the game that we all love!
Yours in soccer,
