This past Sunday we ran our first online coaching seminar with our partners S.L. Benfica. The presentation delivered a brief insight on how the Academy concentrates on the individual player. All players have a team of professionals who are continuously evaluating and measuring their individual needs. The discussion with Jorge Cordeiro, the U23 assistant coach and individual development coach for Benfica was helpful and gave further insight into the Benfica way.
As I watched the seminar over again, there is one thing that kept running through my mind, which is how easily we are connected.
Worldwide we have a massive connection through the Internet that the phrase “nothing is impossible” should be a staple in everyone’s mind.
When I was a kid, I could never imagine the way we are currently operating through the Internet.
Last night, I was further humbled by my father and Uncle Hugo, who reminded me that their family of 7 lived in a 2-bedroom apartment with no running water or bathroom back in Italy.
I am writing today, understanding that there are people who do not have the opportunities or resources that we have and this is a simple reminder to be grateful (If you are reading this blog, you have them).
Through our ever-growing connection across the globe, there will be constant change and the increase of opportunities.
I hope we all make the most of our opportunities and cherish our connections. I believe these actions will assist in developing our individual wisdom.
Yours in soccer,
