We all tend to feel less anxious when things are/seem under control.
The reality is that we are not capable of controlling everything and once this truth is accepted we begin to share the ball more often.
Delivering the ball to whom at what time and where is the newest challenge to an individual just realizing the collective approach will always be superior to the solo journey.
When a pass is delivered to a teammate there is an expectation for them to control the ball. Depending on the situation the ball can come at different speeds and heights and the more prepared we are to cushion the ball with all parts of our body the more trust we gain with our teammates.
The amount of time we work on ourselves away from our team the better prepared we are to live up to the expectations of controlling the things that are delivered to us.
I believe the game becomes most enjoyable to play and watch when players are able to control anything that comes their way. The sharper the tools the cleaner the picture could be.
The preference is to control the game collectively instead of controlling everything individually. Sure, we can do others work, maybe even better but we can’t do everyone’s work…
