This past weekend’s games were the final competitions for some of our teams. This week, we continue practice for the teams that have league competitions this upcoming weekend.
The time certainly flies. We are approaching the end of November already and so much has transpired over these short few months. With out hesitation there have been great strides made.
The ones who are demanding more from themselves as well as others raise standards. This continuous raising the bar approach is important for development and the process of others realizing their potential is something we as a club want to always be a part of.
The quality of the time spent together will outweigh the quantity. Our sessions are no more than 1 hour and 30 minutes in duration while the games are a maximum 3-hour process. The total number of hours spent per week collectively is small per week but the impact can influence the remaining hours of the week apart. I am sure some of the players are imagining the goal they will score on the weekend and writing about it in school, while others are in their basement beating their juggling record! These are the important signs that will help us gauge the truest interest!
Competitions might be the ShowTime moment of the week for all however the importance of what is done throughout the week at sessions will contribute to the purpose of the competitions in a big way. We all have our perspectives on things and the easiest/laziest outlook is the win, loss and tie column. Things are not always black and white and the grey areas usually require the most patience and desire to understand. My greatest congratulations go out to all of the players, teams, coaches and parents who have witnessed a fall season full of ups and downs that contribute to the overall development process.
As we head indoors for the winter months with continued training sessions and tournament play amongst each other as well as outside competition, we are anticipating further progress made.
Finding the balance of individual success and failure for each player will be a necessity for their growth and progress. The club is prepared to present a variety of appropriate challenges, individually and collectively over the next 4 months.
Yours in soccer,
